AGAPE Officially Adopts Morning Star Sanctuary

On July 1, 2018, Morning Star Sanctuary officially merged with AGAPE to operate as one non-profit serving Middle Tennessee. AGAPE was founded in 1966 and exists to strengthen children and families with the healing love of Christ through counseling and social services. Morning Star Sanctuary exists to provide refuge for victims of domestic violence and their children who have fled abusive situations and to help empower them to break the cycle of violence that controls their lives. 


Over the course of the last 10 years, Morning Star has provided… 


  • Over 50,000 nights of safe stay in our emergency residence for over 800 adults and children escaping domestic violence 
  • Over 7,500 counseling hours for women and children 
  • Over 10,000 permanent and temporary orders of protection in our 2 offices in the Criminal Justice Center

Finding a place of refuge from an abuser is CRUCIAL to survivors of domestic violence. Many times they leave quickly with their children, taking nothing more than the clothes on their backs in their desperate attempts to get away. Our emergency shelter provides them with an environment that helps them stay safe without the fear of injury or loss of life.
